The Undone Bun is our new go-to hairstyle. Not only is it totally simple to create, it’s a great hairstyle for any occasion! Celebrities love this look and this is exactly how it is created:

  1. Take a diamond section of hair from the crown and backcomb it gently.
  2. Make two ponytail sections at the nape (the base of your neck) and at the back of the head.
  3. Tie the ponytails together in a knot.
  4. Tuck the ends in and pin to create a messy bun.
  5. Loosen gently and set with some hairspray.

Low Side Braid

This look is particularly perfect for day trips to the beach or music festivals, and is just as stylish for a romantic evening meal. Here’s how to get the Low Side Braid just right:

  1. Take your comb and create a centre parting that starts at your crown.
  2. Gather your hair round into a low ponytail on your preferred side and secure with a hairband.
  3. Next, separate the ponytail into three sections and do a simple braid. Note that it doesn’t have to be perfect; really, the messier the better to perfect this look!
  4. Secure the end with another hair tie, remove the first hair tie, and voila! An easy, beautiful Low Side Braid. If you want to make it a little messier, pull strands of hair out from the top of your forehead, and why not add some cute flowers down the braid too?

Braided Chignon

We’re absolutely loving this hairdo, and although it may look complicated, it’s actually super easy to recreate! Spring is the perfect time to experiment with styles, so give this one a go and see what you think!

  1. Start by brushing all the knots and tangles out of your hair.
  2. Taking small sections at the front of your hair, make two tiny braids. You can do this on one side of your head or both – it’s up to you!
  3. Next, put all of your hair, including these braids, into a ponytail.
  4. Once secured with a hair band, separate the hair from the ponytail into three sections.
  5. Take the first section of hair and wrap it around the base of the ponytail, covering the hair band, until you get to the end of the section and then pin the ends of that section up with hair slides.
  6. Repeat this with the other two sections of hair.
  7. Pin the whole chignon to your head and loosen with your fingers

That’s it! A super simple and gorgeous look, great for an elegant dinner with a loved one.

Inverted Ponytail

Gone are the days of the regular ponytail, say hello to the Inverted Ponytail! A jazzed up version of the classic which is an easy style to rock this spring. It’s a great everyday look for work or play. Give it a go:

  1. Brush your hair to remove any knots
  2. Gather your hair into a loose ponytail and secure with a hair band
  3. Just above the hair tie, create a space with your fingers about the size of a golf ball (or bigger if you have a lot of hair, just make sure it’s big enough for your pony to fit through).
  4. Carefully push your ponytail down through the loop and pull gently to secure.

Done! There’s only four simple steps to this must-have hairstyle.

Flower Braid

This is probably our favourite look of them all – especially for spring! Floral prints are a must during this season, so add the perfect touch to your outfit by creating this great hairdo. Here’s just how to do it:

  1. Gather a section from one side of your head, twist and then secure at the bottom with an elastic. Repeat this step on the other side of your head too.
  2. Bring these two twisted sections together at the back of your head and tie together with an elastic to make a small ponytail. You can now remove the two elastics from the bottoms of these sections.
  3. Braid this small ponytail and secure with an elastic.
  4. Take your braid and twist it around in a circle.
  5. Secure your little flower in place with hair slides and tweak how you see fit.

That’s it! It’s such a simple look but really adds a sweet seasonal touch to your hair!

Christmas Party Hair Inspiration

Cracking Christmas Party Hair

party hair

It isn’t all about the dress at the upcoming festive party. It’s just as much about the hairstyle as the outfit – but where do you start? With thousands of hairstyles to choose from, we’re bringing you our top four ideas for cracking Christmas party hair.

The Only Way Is Up

updo

An updo is the new curl and has stamped its mark on 2018 trends. There is nothing more sophisticated than a classy top knot to crank up the Christmas glam. Whether you’re opting for a messy bun, a sleek ponytail or maybe a fishtail plait, make sure you give it a trial run the night before to avoid any last minute hair panics. If you struggle to get the length for a look like this, then contact us about extensions. We can add length and volume to your hair for those perfect party looks.

The Bigger The Better

long hair

If you want to make a statement at an upcoming gathering, then the bigger the hair the better. Add some serious volume to your locks using straighteners, rollers, a curling iron or giving it a bit of a backcomb and adding a spritz of hairspray. Extensions are a great alternative for adding some serious volume to your natural hair, and no matter what type you go for, we can guarantee you’ll have big, bouncy hair in no time.

Sleek and Stylish

sleek and shiny hair

There is nothing more elegant than a sleek and straight style, taking it right back to basics. Wash your hair as normal using a leave-in conditioner afterwards, dry your hair as normal using a large flat paddle brush to get the hair as straight as possible, tie up your hair and straighten as normal and top it all off with some shine serum.

Just Rolled Out of Bed

casual hair

Perfect for shorter styles and those among us who are strapped for time, the straight out of bed look has been rocked on the red carpet by stars like Lily Collins, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Mila Kunis. Add in some loose curls with a pair of straighteners, leave to cool and brush out to leave you with a gentle bend. Add some extra va-va-voom with some dry shampoo at the roots, because who doesn’t love volume?

No matter what style you’re opting for, we’re sure your Christmas party hair is going to impress. If you’re looking for some extra wow-factor, then get in touch about adding extensions – with added length and volume, you’re going to be able to create stunning looks in no time. 6 Hairstyles To Rock This Summer

Choosing which hairstyles to rock throughout the summer months can be tricky, will it match with your outfit, will you have time to make it look awesome, and will it suit you? Leave all the hair drama back in spring and breeze through the summer months care-free and with fabulous hair. We’ve collated our six favourite hairstyles that we think will steal the show this summer!

Low ponytailThe Low Ponytail

Think your everyday ponytail and flip it on its head. This look is the simplest to create but looks chic and stylish, and suits pretty much all hair types, we think it’s a total win win. Shuffle your ponytail to the bottom of your head and fasten with a hairband or bobby pin. You can add an extra element by twisting a piece of hair around the ponytail to avoid the hairband showing, totally flawless!

Top Knot BunTop Knot Bun

Running errands, heading to the shops or doing duties around the house, this effortless look is the one for you. Rocked by Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian, this is a real trend-setting look. Start with a high ponytail and begin twisting your hair around the top of the ponytail, hair band or bobby pin in place for a top knot that looks like it took hours! Want to keep it even more casual? Ruffle up the bun and pull out some hair at the front to frame your face

Corkscrew CurlsCorkscrew Curls

Although this look can take slightly longer to achieve, the results last for days! The tight ringlet curls can add tonnes of extra volume to your hair as well as some well needed extra sassiness! Once curled, they can last up to 4 days without any real maintenance and we think that’s music to your ears girls! The longer hair the better for this look, find out about our extension options to make this look a real winner. When creating this look, make sure you’re curling from the bottom up and you alternate your direction of curl, this will ensure the most natural look.

Fishtail PlaitFishtail Plait

Plaits are perfect for all sorts of occasions but sometimes they need that extra touch of sparkle and this is where the Fishtail Braid comes in, it’s a plait with power! Taking only minutes to create this plait looks intricate and detailed but realistically is totally the opposite. The braid is created by creating a small ponytail at the base of your head and splitting it into two. Starting on the right hand side take a small section from under your right ponytail and pull it up and over the right to join the left hand pony. Repeat this step on the opposite side, taking a small section from underneath the left pony and pulling it up and over to join your right pony. It may sound confusing at first, but you’ll totally get the hang of it after a few goes.

Double-Dutch BraidDouble Dutch Braid

With festival season upon us, we thought it would be rude to leave out the Dutch Braid or as we like to call it “The festival favourite”. This look is a love of festival go-ers for its ease and simplicity, or in other words, its ability to cover up the dreaded third day festival hair! Perfect for accessorising, this versatile look can incorporate hair rings, glitter and feathers, go crazy girls! Take a section of hair at the top and separate it into 3 equal section – left, middle, and right. Take the left section and cross is under the middle one. Now take the right section, and cross it under the middle. Start adding more hair into each section as you go and continue until you reach the bottom, where you will finish it off with a normal plait.

Natural WavesNatural Waves

We know we include a natural wave in nearly all of our style blogs, but that’s because we think this style is a must try in the summer months! Whether you go for the soft curls or the messy beach waves, they take seconds to create but can leave a lasting impression for hours. Our extensions are also great for adding the extra length to this look, because who doesn’t love lengthy curls? They can be created with curling tongs, straighteners or by sleeping in plaits, this look really is that simple!

We think we’ve given you enough looks there to last you through the whole of the summer, but if that’s not enough for you, then how about trying extensions? Add that extra length and volume for the summer months and get dreamy locks all your friends will be envious of! Head over to our website for all the information about extensions and how you can book a consultation!

Spring Color Trends

There are many ways you can spruce up your look for the Spring season, but there are some trends we think epitomise the warmer climates we’re hoping for throughout April.

With the darker brunettes, and cool highlights being left behind in winter, what is to come as the year progresses?

Which looks are owning the red carpet and the covers of Elle magazine this April?

Pastel hues are fashioning the heads of celebrities left right and centre, with the most iconic of course being Kim Kardashian – West and hubby Kanye. Kim often enhances her pastel locks by adding extensions to give volume as well as length, something we can help you with if pastel is your passion this spring. From baby pinks, blue and greens to some adventurous attempts at yellow, this look is bang on trend and looks pretty darn cool! Although this look is rocking on blonde hair, it can also look stylish on brunettes too so don’t be afraid to have an experiment!

Pastel hair colours for Spring   Patel pink while letting the roots show a graduated tone

Rockin roots are not something to be ashamed of – they are fast becoming one of the biggest trends of 2018. With celebs like Margot Robbie and her defined brown roots taking this year’s red carpets by storm, we fell in love with her creamy blonde striking locks, and believe it or not, these are seriously easy to recreate! Whether you just let your hair grow out naturally or ask your hairdresser for a Balayage, the outcomes are very similar and we are so in love!

Don’t be fooled by all the hype about the in-trend blonde locks, we think a brunette barnet is still as classy as ever. Mix your look up by adding some warmer tones to your hair; it’ll lift your whole look and bring you bang up to trend.

Classic brown up-look   Add warm toned extensions to lift your brown colours

Keeping it dark! Although you may think that spring means bright and light looks, you’d be wrong, dark deep brown hair is always on trend, it’s a timeless look. Elegance doesn’t come more defined than shiny straight dark brown hair. The possibilities with this look are endless, and even more achievable with the help of our extensions. Extensions are great for people looking to add volume to their hair but can also work wonders for people looking to get longer hair. Get that length that’ll give you the wow factor.

No matter what look you’re rocking at the moment, if you love it, then that’s all that matters! Looks go in and out of fashion but happy and healthy hair is for life! If you want to find out more about what we can do for your hair, then book yourself a consultation with one of our hair fairies, they work wonders! Head over to our main website to find out more.

New year, new hair

The new year is always a great time to refresh your fictional hair wardrobe, update your style and add a fresh, healthier feel to your luscious locks.

We can all get stuck in the rut of loving a style and sticking with it because it ‘suits’ us, but who wants to have the same hair for the rest of their lives? We certainly don’t! The new year gives you the opportunity to update your hair as well as setting some meaningful resolutions.

We’ve come up with 5 simple ways to revamp your tired-looking hair, and we think they’re all genius!

1. Match your color to the season

match your color to the seasonsPeople quite often stick to the same cut and color – season in, season out – but changing your hair to fit with the seasons is a trend we’re really loving! Moving from caramels and mousy browns in the spring, to highlights and blonde bombshells in the summer. Nothing is more stunning than a red head in the autumn and winter simply calls for dark brunettes and the occasional controversial silver.

2. Style is everything

Finding a style that suits you can be tricky; there are many factors that can make make you love or hate a style. Ask your stylist what cut she thinks will suit your hair colour best. Bangs are a trend that rolls around year after year when the colder months roll in, and we are big fans! If you’re looking for a subtle change, going for a shorter cut is always a good idea; at the end of the day it will always grow again!

3. Accessories

If changing your hair gets you nervous, then there are plenty of accessories out there that can change your whole look without you having to fully commit. Clip-ins, fancy bobbles and hair grips are a great way of adding extra depth to a hairstyle and only come with a small price tag. Bobby pins are great for styling the hair without having to use a hairband and can be very discreet if needed. Stylish headbands and bobbles can also add a touch of chic to a look!

4. Hair care

Kevin Murphy hair productsLooking after your hair is crucial for maintaining a healthy, happy appearance, and here at Lucinda Ellery we only use the best products that are going to benefit you. 5. Extensions
